old-school fish

i have stolen this from f-machine because it had me snickering out loud*, & not just because we got an Atari Flashback console for Christmas.

seriously fishies, if you're a child of 70's or 80's, this will make you feel old.
but dammit it's funny anyway.

*read all the way through, believe me.

13 little fish:

I'm not sure if tetris is true, they still use that on mobiles and everyone plays it. Like snake.

Isn't that great? And to think I played those... first run! My aunt even had a goofy 'Members Only' jacket that had ATARI embroidered down the sleeve!!! I think Tim's comments made me laugh the most!

LOL!!! Oh god, I feel so old. I actually read this article last November. One of my older brothers is a HUGE game geek, and regularly gets EGM magazine.

My faves:

"My line is so beating the heck out of your stupid line. Fear my pink line. You have no chance. I am the undisputed lord of virtual tennis."

AND:

"EGM: Who's that chick Mario is rescuing up there?

Brian: It's Princess Peach.

Kirk: It's a hooker.

Niko: She looks cut in half.

Tim: Oh wow—she's one of those pole dancers.

That was hilarious. I remember well when that was high tech and I spent many a quarter in arcades playing those games. Thanks for that!

I wasted hour upon hour of my life in the late 70s playing pong. My sister always beat me.

Oldben, I'm sure you did the easter egg thing in Adventure when the secret was "revealed." OMG, it was like they found Jimmy Hoffa or something when that news came out.

Everyone who made these games is probably dead by now???? Ouch, that hurt. Space invaders came out when I was 10 or 11. I remember standing in line to play.

tom: i think the point is, when there's nothing better to do. i guess looking out of windows isn't hep anymore.

livewire: i'd envy that jacket 'cept i bet it was one of those shiny sportsy types. which look terrible on me.

sock, i have to ask, what the hell do you want it for then?

ghostblogger: it just dawned on me who you are. yay!
it was the eggses that gave it away.

carl v: you're welcome. thank the machine. i miss arcades.

phylos: i rule at pong, so much so that it's boring. oh wait...

ben: much like what i was saying--oh wait, that was "wizard"--
"kill the swirly thing!"
"ooh, you can be the swirly thing!"
"that's an imp."
"it isn't."
"the book says it is."
etcetera.

jason: i think the original space invaders predates me, but not by much...

does anyone remember a pc game called "castle"? i loved that game.
it was basically "adventure", i think, only more comprehensible.
to me, anyway.

i have a pair of space invader pants.
