the following line has been revolving around in my head for days now, & doesn't seem to want to attach to anything whatsoever. i just don't know what to do with it.
so i'm giving it to you.

...didn't quite know what to do with the diminutive purple girl or the scarecrow whose shoulder she sat on. Until they offered him a tulip for his top hat. A skull is always smiling, but that one was a smirkin'.

...breathed a heavy sigh. it hadn't always been like this. instead of a chicken, he once had ridden a mighty and frightening pale steed and had 3 companions. many trembled at their approach and few ever lived to tell the tale of meeting, let alone cheating, death. but now war and conquest had run off with one another to adopt a chinese baby girl and famine...well, who really wants to spend their free time with a walking disease much less all that have been and ever will be?
"damn unions," he muttered, and pushed his mighty bird, whom he'd taken to calling 'the widow johnson', down towards what he tought might be north america. it was tough to be sure though, it being thursday and he wearing his saturday hat.
