fashion fish

for those of you who don't live near manhattan or any one of the fashion capitals of the world, i thought i'd share this latest downtown trend:

live giant Madagascar hissing cockroach jewelry.

hissing cockroach ring, photo from the NY Post.

i'm absolutely serious.
apprently this guy designs for one of those America's top model people & this is his thing.
my thing is that bedazzled bugs are a bad joke in poor taste. although i guess the roaches must be thrilled at being that much closer to taking over mankind.

this, on the other hand, i think is hysterical:

it's a new fashion trend in Japan, apparently, to wear bottoms that have been treated--however they do it, airbrushing?--to look like you can see the ladies' panties through them.

is it true?

who cares?

it's brilliant.

Ugh!!! That jewelry reminds me of these giant cockroach candies I saw on another blog the other day that made me want to wretch just looking at them. I could not wear this and would be hesitant to approach even the most stunning woman if she felt the need to wear real cockroach jewelry.

The skirts, weather real or fake, are funny!

That should be 'whether'...although it may be interesting to see how real and fake 'weather' effects them....

you know it never even occured to me that skirts might be fake - even though i didn't quite believe that it was an actual "trend" and know what can be done with photoshop, i just thought that people are strange. as for the "conspiracy nut" who is rejecting the skirts a fraudulent - 'e is silly

this page offers a little more info on victorian "taxidermied jewelry"...meaning, i suppose, that even if the insects were alive when the victorians wore them, they're certainly dead now.

as i said about the skirts, real or not, they're brilliant.

the question, though: would you wear one?

I would, but not sure about any females I know! ;)

i don't think i would.
if i were going for that look (!) i'd probably just wear a skirt you could actually see through.
a bit, anyway.
