i am addicted to the fish

an update on, well, everything is even now in the works, but i've gone through most of a bottle of really good wine in celebration and i have never realized how much i yearn for certain data input. currently my brain craves serial experiments lain and the only versions i have are subtitled in swedish or englishized (dubbed). despite my desire to see lain, there is no way i will let those foolish people who think that dubbing anime is a good thing ruin the best mind-fuck i have ever seen. i saw like water for chocolate dubbed and never recovered.

(mysfit's note of sober import: if you like cyberpunk fiction like Gibson's Neuromancer or Stephenson's SnowCrash, you'll love serial experiments lain - just beware of the dvd subtitles, they suck.)

Sometimes dubbing is like seeing your great aunt Margaret naked: something you never wanted to know about, yet something you'll never forget.

i still can't fathom why they subbed the lain dvd so poorly...watched the whole damn thing & still had no idea what was really going on...

I watched a little bit of Samurai Champloo the other night on adult swim and really liked it and now want to go back and check out all of those that are available.

I'm with you on the dubbed stuff, most of it completely sucks!

i loved Champloo...wrote about it here...& i think you must be able to get it on dvd now:

which i highly recommend, because it's a fantastic story & the dubbed version just ruins it...not as bad as some i've heard, but almost seems worse because the story & the characters are so good i hate to see them trivialized...
